Children’s Wisconsin Financial Stewardship Explainer Video
Children’s Wisconsin, a leading pediatric healthcare provider, is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of children across the state. To sustain its mission and adapt to the ever-changing healthcare landscape, Children’s Wisconsin needed a clear, engaging way to communicate the importance of financial stewardship to its internal stakeholders, including leaders, employees, and providers.
We were tasked with creating an informative whiteboard explainer video that would break down complex financial concepts into simple, relatable terms, helping every team member understand their role in safeguarding the organization’s financial future.
2. The Objective
The primary goal of the project was to develop a compelling visual narrative that:
- Educates Children’s Wisconsin staff about the organization’s financial strategy and their individual roles in it.
- Simplifies complex financial terminology and concepts for easy comprehension.
- Motivates staff to actively contribute to the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
- Reinforces Children’s Wisconsin’s values of innovation, collaboration, and stewardship.
3. The Solution
We crafted a whiteboard explainer video that combined clear, concise language with engaging visual storytelling. The video was structured into five key chapters:
- Introduction to Stewardship: Explaining the concept and importance of financial stewardship within Children’s Wisconsin.
- Why Financial Stewardship is Important: Highlighting the organization’s vision and the need for innovation and efficiency in a competitive healthcare landscape.
- Understanding Revenue and Expenses: Breaking down the financial components of the organization’s work, including clinical care, community outreach, health plans, and philanthropy.
- Complexities of Healthcare Payments: Discussing the complexities of healthcare payments and the importance of operating efficiently.
- Your Role in Financial Stewardship: Encouraging staff to take ownership of their role in the organization’s financial health by contributing ideas, reducing waste, and finding new revenue streams.
Using a blend of visual metaphors, like scales for balancing revenue and expenses and trees for growth and investment, we ensured that the video was both informative and visually engaging. The whiteboard style allowed for a dynamic, interactive feel, with clear transitions between chapters to maintain viewer interest.
4. The Results
The whiteboard explainer video was met with enthusiastic approval from Children’s Wisconsin leadership and staff. The clear, accessible presentation of financial stewardship concepts helped demystify the organization’s financial strategy and empowered employees to take an active role in its success. Key outcomes included:
- Increased Engagement: Staff reported a better understanding of their impact on the organization’s financial health, leading to more ideas being submitted through the Bright Ideas platform.
- Enhanced Collaboration: The video fostered a sense of shared responsibility among employees, encouraging collaboration across departments to achieve financial goals.
- Positive Feedback: The video was praised for its clarity, visual appeal, and effectiveness in conveying complex information simply and engagingly.
Overall, the project successfully equipped Children’s Wisconsin’s team with the knowledge and motivation needed to contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of the organization, ensuring they can continue to provide top-quality care to children and families across the state.
